info
Aloes thrive on neglect, making them one of the easiest garden plants for California. They are drought-tolerant, and this one needs little water once established, especially near the coast. It’s natural for this aloe to show stress during its dry season, giving added seasonal interest to the succulent garden. During this time the leaves will curl in on themselves, and often shrivel. If you prefer a lush look, watering once dry will keep them plump.

Growing Notes

A fast growing plant that quickly suckers from the base to create a small colony.
This plant looks great alone, in a pot, or as a garden accent. That said, our favorite use of it is in mass plantings, where it makes an durable ground cover with a traffic stopping mass bloom.

Special Interest

One of many Andy De Wet aloe hybrids, created at his nursery in South Africa.
