Growing Notes

Slow growing, but easy and rewarding. Leaves are held for many years making a beautiful stacked column. Be sure to water when totally dry, especially in winter, as if watering is withheld too long the lower leaves will shrivel up and fall off. If you’d like to regain the perfect stack of leaves cut your plant just above the soil like and replant the leafless stem, stripping some lower leaves if necessary. You’ll get many new heads from the base and a clean cutting from the top.
This haworthia offsets from the base, creating a small colony over time. Once a pup is established with its own roots, they are easily divided and repotted.
Can tolerate coastal sun, but will scorch in hot midday inland sun. This plant usually grows in the hot dappled shade of other plants in nature.
Pull off older flower spikes once they are completely dry.
Exceptional choice for pots, even small ones.

Special Interest

Keep an eye out on your flowers as haworthia often set keikis—small pups dangling from the flower spike—that can be replanted once the flower spike begins to wane.
