Growing Notes

Plants in more sun will produce more flowers.
Cut faded stems every year or two. May need digging and dividing after many years in the ground.
Stems may die back in colder areas but they will resprout in spring and grow fast if watered sufficiently.
Keikis (baby plantlets) form on spent flowerheads and can be planted on their own once the first leaves form.

Special Interest

Unlike most flowering gingers, this one’s flowers are not fragrant (in our experience).

Cut foliage a nice addition to bouquets.
