info
Maltese Cross is from arid areas of Madagascar and as such likes to go totally dry between waterings in winter, but actually appreciates ample summer water (as long as the temperatures are warm and soil well drained) and will grow very quickly during that time.

Remember that if kept in a small pot your plant will want more frequent watering.

If kept quiet dry during summer this plant will atrophy its lower leaves and have a smaller crown of dwarfed leaves.

Growing Notes

While this plant can be pruned back hard and will branch out from wherever it’s pruned (and you can root the top fairly easily) such pruning leaves a lasting scar on the trunk (due to the tough woody interior) and should be avoided.
Can grow from a single leaf if placed on damp cactus mix in a warm spot.
Plants are quite brittle once full grown and should be placed away from dogs, pathways, basketball hoops etc.
