info
Very drought tolerant but will grow faster if it receives some summer water, usually every couple weeks to a month once established (let the plant dry out between waterings). If you aren’t getting summer growth you may be underwatering. These plants prefer a dry winter; outdoors in central California, they won’t need supplemental winter water once established. Worth growing under eaves in wetter and frostier areas.

Growing Notes

Appealing and eccentric plant can reach surprising heights up to eight feet tall. Slipper-shaped flowers appear spring through fall. We’ve seen it thriving even in frosty Inland Empire locations. Long stretches of gloomy, wet weather may cause problems.
